20 Year Old Ramblings About Living

Just relax.

Sometimes it seems like every situation in life right now is a do or die type thing. It's like whatever idea I have must be done or else my "claim to fame", we will call it, is doomed.

When in reality why do I actually care so much about trying to create some sort of phenomenal, revolutionary thing that will change people's lives. Whether that be a product, way of thinking, or whatever else my brain likes to spew out.

I have a hint of an idea that it has something to do with a way of feeling important. Which makes me wonder- How is it that I gain this feeling of importance? Why is it so important to me? Where do I direct this desire so that it can be satiated?

Let me clarify a little bit.

I think that it is ridiculous that I am believing I need to gain some sort of importance in the first place. I am perfectly capable of being important without any strings attached to some plan or goal that I am achieving. It has made me question some things about myself. Is honesty okay here? Ok, cool. Glad we got that out of the way.

First off, I want to know what my intentions are behind the things that I do. What is the point of the ideas that I come up with that I want to move forward with? Sometimes it is out of my passion to create and other times it is in hopes that I will reap some reward- Which is why it has been difficult for me to stick to one thing that I didn't get immediate reward from.

More than anything, in this pre adulthood (is it still pre?) I believe it is important that we don't get so caught up in our plans and future goals and create a sort of tunnel vision until we reach where we anticipate going. Time will continue moving at the same pace it always has. No matter how much it seems like it flies-I promise 1 day still = 24 hours. So let's stop worrying so much. Whatever the heck we are doing right now is definitely not ensured to be the end-all-be-all for the rest of our lives so lets chillax a bit more.

I guess here is where I should suggest some sort of philosophy or advice. Well, this is what I think.

Take risks. Don't be completely blind about it, but if you are like me and you have an opportunity and desire that takes you out of college. Life is not going to end and you can always go back if things change and you want some sort of certification. In my opinion, college is great for those who know they need it or who have know idea what they need.

Continue to invest into yourself. To me, this means reading, listening and doing things that are new, fresh, exciting and awesome, of course. I listen to a podcast by an inspiring guy, Tim Ferriss, who has revolutionized many areas of my thinking. Recently, I listened to a ten minute podcast he created about the 9 Habits to Stop Now-The Not-To-Do List. I put into practice a few of them today and had half the amount of stress and twice the amount of productivity. Score. I wonder what today would have been like if I didn't listen to that yesterday. It's important to continue keeping your mind active and not stuck in routine mode doing and acting out of habit.

Schedule time to do things you enjoy. You are never too busy or too tired to be with people you care about. Hit em up and plan a date. Don't wait for them to get ahold of you. Take some initiative. Maybe even make a list of some stuff you have been wanting to do, but always putting off because you're "too busy". Take a night to yourself to read a good book or invest into a hobby-playing music, writing, drawing, playing a sport, going to the gym. It will be worth it, just get over the feeling of not wanting to do it and do it. It's just a feeling and it's only temporary.

That's all I got for now. Check back for some updates and the ever-so-interesting like of Gloria and her 20 year old ramblings about living.

Something Needs to Change

You gotta ask yourself what's the point sometimes.
Break the habitual movements and thoughts and ask
Why am I waking up today?
What am I looking forward to?
Stop yourself
Find out what lies within you
What is your motivation?
I'm driving thinking and planning what I'm going to do today
I'm thinking like who even cares anyways
You know
What's the point for all of this
What if I just disappeared today
Would it really matter
That's when it jumped out at me
It has nothing to do with me...
Its about you
You
Reading this right now
I am speaking directly to you
Listen
I have something to tell you and you need to hear this
There is a life of passion, excitement, freedom and fulfillment
You are supposed to be living in right now
I am experiencing it, but its lonely here
And I want to take you with me
Will you join me
The thing is I don't care where you are right now
All I need from you I'd to know that you want to be somewhere better than you are now
If that is you
I am here
To support you, encourage you, inspire you
If you allow me
The choice is yours
I am going to keep living this way with or without you
But I would prefer for you to be with me
If that is what you want and where you want to be
My offer is for those willing to take it
To choose to change where they are headed
It is here and it will remain
Even if it takes time
I understand
You may not be ready
I wasn't ready a year ago
But now I am
And I want you to be here with me
I really do
I want to know what you want
I want to stand next to you and walk with you on your journey
I want to step with you at your pace with your stride
I will not give up on you
You are the only one who will make that choice
And even then I understand
Lets rediscover the abilities you've been hiding
Lets blast the dust off the gems you've been collecting
Lets be brought into life together
Dont allow yourself to go through those daily motions unconsciously anymore
Tell yourself
Today I am going to live a day that's worth it and nobody will stop me
Watch what happens
Life becomes alive again or for the first time
You start to recognize those burning desires  that have been muffled
You learn to think for yourself
You begin to choose yourself
And then
You will take all those around you with you
Lets do it together
Dont look back at this day a year from now and regret it
I know its scary
Your heart is pounding
Its time
This is for you
Will you accept it

Blogging For Beginners

Why Have a Blog?
You learn how to sell yourself. Who cares about selling you say? Well, when you think about it you are going to need to know how to do this the rest of your life. When it comes to relationships, communicating, arguing, business, or a career this skill will always be needed.

Why Don't We Like Sales People?
Maybe we despise them because we don't really know how to sell in the first place and neither do they. Sales people go through training, but forget that people are people. No one wants to be sold anything. People do want their problems solved, though. When you are able to solve someone's problem they will buy because they want to. That is true sales people.
Now, think about how that could work its way into something like relationships. In an argument instead of trying to drill your point into that person you start selling them something they want and they will buy into because it solves their problem. Problem solved. You both win. Well, maybe you do lose a little. A little pride. But hey, always give more than you expect, right?

Find Your Thing
What are you an expert at? Everyone is an expert at something. There is something you are tirelessly interested that you can share with others. You can teach what you know and what you have learned to others. This could be fashion, cars, philosophy or food. Basically anything. Once you have honed in on your niche you can now begin your blog.

Brand Yourself
You want people to trust you and build a bond with you based on the content of your site. This could be through words, picture or videos. You want that person to know you, like you and trust you. You get to show them what you want to be known as. This comes out in your story. What is your story? Why are you doing what you are doing in the first place? What do you want them to know? Ultimately, this will build you the recognition and credibility to be trusted. Remember, if this person is not an immediate friend they have never met you before and this is your first impression. Tell them who you are, what you do and why they should be a part.

Know Your People
The next step is targeting your audience. You will build rapport by knowing your people. You are not looking to market to everyone. Market to everyone and you will market to no one. You need to know your audience better than yourself. Know them enough to know the conversation going on in their heads and enter into it. You need to know everything about your people. What they do when they wake up, what they are doing or thinking throughout their days, where they spend their free time and of course what their "problem" is you are aiming to solve.

Four Great Questions for a Compelling Blog Post:
  1. Who are they? The better you know your people the more likely they will buy into what you have to say. It will lower the resistance and increase cooperation.
  1. What do they do? Visualize the world they live in, what their lifestyle is like and what they are exposed to. Think about the little things like their relationship status or what they think about before they go to sleep at night.
  1. What do they want? Do they want free time, advice, good music, to travel, to do what they love, a better mind set? What do they want?
  1. What is their problem? In other words, what is stopping them from getting what they want. I would say this one is the most important. Here is where you identity the Problem, Agitate it by showing that you understand the issues this problem brings, then Solve it. (P+A+S=Success!)

Whether your blog be for personal or business reasons you are on the path to becoming an expert communicator (not a salesperson;) and you will be able to catch people's attention and get them to become a part of what you are offering them. Let me be the first to congratulate you on a new journey or encourage you already on it. Cheers to what lies ahead!

The information I shared above is valued at over $10,000, but I have access to it for only $25 and so can you.
